17 May 2021 - Webinar NWO-I about Scientific Integrity

  • 17 May 2021 13.30 - 15.00 hours
  • Online
  • How do you behave when you are confronted by a violation of scientific integrity?
  • How do you make the right choices in your research, in terms of design, implementation, reporting, assessment, peer review, and communication?
  • What dilemmas do you encounter?

NWO and NWO-I consider it essential that our scientific research is carried out fairly, carefully, transparently, independently, and responsibly. After all, research that lacks integrity can cause damage and harm the trust in science and the trust between scientists or researchers. NWO and NWO-I, therefore, monitor the quality of the scientific research funded by NWO, and the quality of the scientific research that NWO Institutes carry out. NWO wholeheartedly subscribes to the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity 2018.

In the near future, NWO-I will pay a lot of attention to scientific integrity. To begin, in an interactive Webinar Professor Ralph Wijers (Anton Pannekoek Institute of Astronomy at UvA) will explain what scientific integrity is about, and how you, as a NWO-I researcher, can deal with it, and also how NWO-I complies with the code of conduct.

Previously, Wijers gave a lecture at ASTRON about the topic. The webinar (in English) is organised for all scientists and researchers at the NWO Institutes, but other colleagues are also very welcome. Scientific integrity concerns everyone. In the end, we all work for science!
