News from the works councils (Februari 2025)
A successful Connect@Works Council… and is the works council something for you?
Works councils consider and provide input on a wide range of subjects like personnel and recruitment policy, ICT systems, changes to the organisation and working conditions in the broadest sense of the word. This includes subjects such as a good workspace, work absence, work pressure and undesirable behaviour. There are various works councils within NWO, including the Group Works Council at NWO-I (GOR NWO-I) and the Central Works Council at NWO (COR NWO) and the councils at the institutes. Each council has its own piece of control so that an issue is not discussed at more than one table.
Personal development
The informative Connect@Works Council event was held on Thursday, 23 January, at the NWO office in Utrecht. During this meeting, the members of the works councils talked about what they do for the works councils of NWO and what they see as the added value of employee participation for NWO. Members also gave an insight into what personal developments OR membership results in. At the end of the meeting, Marcel Levi spoke about his experiences as director of several works councils, after which drinks were served.
Welcome
If you could not attend the event but are interested in the works councils’ activities, then please contact us via or-nwo@nwo.nl with your general questions or to arrange a personal meeting with a member of one of the works councils. Remember that you are always welcome to attend an OR meeting as an observer (please contact the chair of the works council at your institute beforehand).
