NWO-I joins PhD Netwerk Netherlands (PNN)
Since this year, NWO-I has its own PhD network. This network brings the almost five hundred PhD students from the NWO Institutes in contact with one another to network and share experiences. The setting up of this NWO-I PhD network also makes it possible to join the national network for PhD students, the PhD Netwerk Netherlands (PNN). Therefore, on 13 September, NWO-I became an official member of this interest group for and by PhD students.
About the NWO-I PhD network and how to join
The NWO-I network was set up in 2024 to support PhD students and its aim is to bring PhD students from the NWO Institutes together for, among other things, social events, questions about PhD requirements or help in finding accommodation. As a PhD student at one of the nine NWO Institutes, you not only have to fulfil the requirements of the institute, but also the requirements of the university that you are affiliated with. Often this may be a different university than your fellow PhD students attend, as many institutes are affiliated with more than one university. About the PNN
PhD Netwerk Netherlands (PNN) is the national interest group for and by PhD students. In this capacity, they take part in important discussions with, for example, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in which they promote the interests of PhD students in the Netherlands. PNN is an association in which the general members meeting (ALV) is the highest decision-making body. The members of PNN consist of local PhD students organisations, and therefore include the NWO-I PhD network. During the general members meeting, in which the PNN board and members consult together, the policy and the actions to be taken are discussed and decisions are made.
