NWO Utrecht moves to a new location on 3 June
On 3 June, colleagues from NWO Utrecht will start their working day in the new building Nova Zembla, at Winthontlaan 2 in Utrecht (next to the A12 motorway, Kanaleneiland junction). Due to its central location in the Netherlands, the building is also a good meeting place for colleagues from the NWO domains, NWO-I and for guests.
Employees from the NWO-I office, NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES), the Taskforce for Applied Research (NPRO-SIA) and the Dutch Network of Women Professors (LNVH) and several colleagues from the NWO Domain Science, and Operations are currently located in Utrecht and will therefore move to the new building. On almost every floor in the building science will be made visible by creating a 'Home of Curiosity'. A special team under the leadership of NWO-I director Christa Hooijer and design bureau Containr is busy working on this.
Meeting centre
The new building has more meeting areas: twelve meeting rooms, smaller consultation rooms on the office floors and an auditorium for hundred people. The top floor will be designed as a relaxed work area with low tables in the style of a coffee lounge.
Accessibility
The new location is highly accessible with the fast tram from Utrecht Central Station. The tram stops at Kanaleneiland Zuid, diagonally opposite the office. The parking garage is for employees of NWO. This contains several charging points for electric cars. Outside there is a small parking area for visitors. There is also space for hundred bikes in a bike rack with places to charge an electric bike. From Utrecht Central Station it takes just under twenty minutes to cycle to the building.
