Working week and holidays
In principle NWO-I has a 40-hour working week. An employee receives 338 hours of paid vacation-leave per year. Employees with part-time employment have vacation-leave claims in proportion.
In addition to the days of leave, universities and educational institutes are closed on the following public holidays: New Year's Day, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the King's Birthday holiday (27 April) and yearly Liberation Day (5 May).
On termination of employment, (some of) the remaining days of leave may (possibly) be paid out if requested, providing it was not possible to utilize the days of leave during employment (after consultation with the team leader).
In the case of certain events special leave may be granted, for instance the birth of a child or the death of a close relation. There is a maternity leave arrangement and a parental leave arrangement. See Special leave.
