Gert-Jan Reichart advocates the importance of oceans in CO2 storage

Central Works Council about fleet renewal at NIOZ and the new job classifications system

Last summer, the NWO Central Works Council (COR) issued advice about the fleet renewal at NIOZ, and considered the introduction of the new job classification system at NWO-D and for the non-scientific personnel of NWO-I. The Central Works Council also made contact with the works council of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

Astronomy instrument detects 49 shades of far-infrared

Researchers from Japan, TU Delft and SRON developed a spectrometer for a telescope in northern Chile. The instrument has passed its first practice runs measuring the distances and ages of distant galaxies. The core of the instrument is a chip the size of two euro coins that measures 49 shades of far-infrared light.
