Science Weekend is the leading national event for science and technology! On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October companies, research institutes, universities and museums will open their doors. Several NWO institutes will also hold an open day during this weekend.

On Saturday 6 October at the Amsterdam Science Park, you can visit AMOLF and learn more about research into solar cell materials and discover how plants excel in geometry. At Nikhef you can find out more about the Higgs particle, antimatter and neutrinos, and you can pose your questions in the Big Bang Theory Corner. At CWI there is a mathematics and ICT market, and Kinder Surprise Eggs will be scanned with the FleX-ray Scanner. ASTRON in Dwingeloo also has an open day on Saturday 6 October. Here you can learn everything about the largest radio telescopes in the world.

On Sunday 7 October, you are welcome to visit DIFFER in Eindhoven. Here you can learn about how DIFFER is helping to simulate the sun. On Sunday 7 October, SRON Groningen and SRON Utrecht are also open. Here you can discover what it takes to make highly sensitive space telescopes.

The entire programme of the Science Weekend 2018 can be found here (Dutch only). Search for the name of the institute to find the opening times, address details and its full programme. The programmes are interesting for both children and adults!

The Institutes NIOZ, NSCR and ARCNL are not open this year during the Science Weekend.
