Academic AI tools for scientific literature search and writing

This interactive, beginner-friendly workshop takes approximately 3 hours and will introduce participants to several AI tools designed to enhance academic research. We'll focus on improving writing, conducting efficient literature searches, managing references, and even translating scientific texts. Participants will get hands-on experience with tools like Jenni, Paperpal, Research Rabbit, Consensus, Perplexity, and Elicit.

No prior AI experience is needed. This practical and accessible workshop is designed for academics and researchers who want to explore AI's benefits. We'll cover responsible AI usage, privacy, and how to safeguard data when using these tools.

Learning outcome

By the end, participants will know how to use AI tools to assist in writing and literature discovery and understand best practices for ethical use and data security.

Requirements

Participants will need a laptop with internet access to participate in the exercises. As most of the tools require registration, participants can choose between using a temporary email (which will be arranged during the workshop) or signing up with their email or Google account.
