The employees' organisations with which the WVOI concluded a collective labour agreement at the start of January have informed us this week that their members have approved the agreements made. With this step, the approval of the collective labour agreement has been finalised.
The agreed upon wage increase of 1.6 percent with effect from 1 January 2017 will be incorporated in the salary of February. The other agreements are stated in the attached negotiations outcome (in Dutch only).
One of the agreements is to include a regulation in the CAO that makes it possible for the employer to implement a Generation Pact regulation. With such a regulation, the influx of young employees can be increased by allowing older employees to work shorter hours for a concomitant reduction in salary.
Meanwhile, various employees are wondering whether NWO will implement such a regulation. Whether NWO will indeed make use of this possibility partly depends upon whether there are sufficient reasons to do so. When it considers this issue, NWO will, for example, examine whether there is an imbalance in the personnel structure that necessitates the implementation of such measures.
