SRON invites applicants (f/m) for a postdoctoral position in the field of exoplanet atmosphere retrieval methods. The project is part of the H2020 project ExoplANETS A. This project is a high impact collaboration between seven leading European institutes and serves as a preparation for the wealth of data coming from JWST and other space & ground-based telescopes. The postdoc will be responsible for ensuring the success of WP3 in this project, which entails the development and application of novel atmospheric retrieval methods.
We aim at researchers with some postdoctoral experience who want to perform research at the edge of theory and observation. The successful applicant ideally leads/contributes to the analysis of observations in a strong physical and chemical context. Within this context there is freedom on the chosen focus.

In this context the successful applicant will be a key developer of the state-of-the-art retrieval package Tau-REx and will be part of a dynamic, international team.
For this interesting and challenging project, we are looking for a scientist with a PhD degree in astronomy or related fields and preferentially some postdoctoral experience in the field of exoplanet atmosphere observations. The successful candidate should have some atmospheric modelling background (planetary, exoplanetary, or brown dwarfs) and be proficient in Python, C and/or Fortran. Good knowledge of the English language is essential and the candidate should be capable of working both independently and in a team.
