Science Weekend 2025
The annual Science Weekend offers a unique glimpse behind the scenes of the world of science and technology. This year, the weekend will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October. Five NWO institutes will also be opening their doors during this weekend.
A varied programme will give young and old alike the opportunity to get a taste of science
Experiments, lectures, guided tours, escape rooms – there is a wide range of activities for everyone from 6 to 106: take a look at the underground trade in fungal networks in the laboratory; learn the techniques behind modern video games; make your own colour splitter; solder a satellite; take a virtual tour of CERN; experience how your sense of touch can be deceived; take a journey through the universe.
This and much more you can see, do and discover during the Science Weekend. And if you can't get enough, you can visit the SRON Open Day the following week as part of NL SpaceWeek.
Participating NWO Institutes
- The NWO Institutes AMOLF, ARCNL, CWI and Nikhef, all located at Amsterdam Science Park, can be visited during the Amsterdam Science Park Science Day (website in Dutch only) on Saturday 4 October.
- SRON will open its doors on Sunday 5 October in Groningen and on Saturday 11 October in Leiden.
