Institution for General Benefit
On 1 January 2012 NWO-I, the Institutes Organisation of NWO was awarded the ANBI status (ANBI is the Dutch acronym for Institution for General Benefit) by The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
An ANBI is a church, religious, charitable, cultural, scientific or other institution that serves the general interest of society. An ANBI does not have to pay any inheritance or gift tax on the income it receives through gifts or legacies. With the ANBI status, gifts from private donators to NWO-I can be deducted against income tax. Donations to NWO-I directly benefit science
