ANBI status
If you are well-disposed towards scientific research in the Netherlands and want to support it financially then you can do so by donating a gift to the NWO-I.
On 1 January 2012 NWO-I, the Institutes Organisation of NWO was awarded the ANBI status (ANBI is the Dutch acronym for Institution for General Benefit) by The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
With the ANBI status, gifts from private donators to NWO-I can be deducted against income tax. Donations to NWO-I directly benefit science. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has published a leaflet with further information about 'Giving to scientific research' (in Dutch).
What does an ANBI status mean?
An ANBI is a church, religious, charitable, cultural, scientific or other institution that serves the general interest of society. An ANBI does not have to pay any inheritance or gift tax on the income it receives through gifts or legacies. Further information about the ANBI status can be found of the website of the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (in Dutch).
The ANBI form can be found as a PDF at the bottom of this page (in Dutch only).
